eBackpack has some new and exciting features.  Here is an overview:

  • Updated current and completed assignment view.  Users have the ability to mark assignments as complete when they turn in work or even if they just complete the reading.  This updates their personalized assignment list to only reflect relevant work.
  • Enhanced assignments with instructions (supporting web links), due dates, automatic turn in cut-off, and the ability to mark assignments as complete for a more personalized assignment list.
  • Teachers may set a default due time for classes that is automatically used when new assignments are created.  Of course, it can always be adjusted for an assignment.
  • New icons differentiating content folders, assignments, and assignments with turn in.
    •  greenfolder_24Content / Organizational Folder
    •  assignment_icon_purple_32Assignment
    •  assignment_icon_purple_arrow_32Assignment that accepts student turn-in
    • tanfolder_24assignment_icon_tan_32assignment_icon_tan_arrow_32 The tan versions are for organization and planning – they are not shared with any students.
  • Assignment set-up and view in the My Files area making it easier to create your assignments ahead of time and keep them for future years.  Just drag and drop from a class to make a copy and drag/drop to another class to easily pass the same assignment out.  When assignments are drag/dropped to a new class, they get the classes default due time – no extra action needed!
  • New icons differentiating content folders, assignments, and assignments with turn in.
  • Updated grading view for teachers showing late and not graded assignments.
  • Color coding for due dates:
    • status_red_16 Red – In the Past
    • status_yellow_16 Yellow – Due in the next 24 hours or less (skipping weekends)
    • status_green_16 Green – More than a day away.

Additionally, these extra features are in the eBackpack iPad app v1.6  including:

  • Text Annotations and enhanced zoom in Mark It – eBackpack’s in-app annotator.
  • Student homework submission notes when turning in work from Mark It, Open In, or the Camera Roll.
  • Updated grading view for teachers showing late and not graded assignments.
  • Enhanced chat / discussion capabilities for assignments.
    • Member Commenting must be enabled on the class settings page for students to chat/discuss items in eBackpack. Select a class, choose Class Settings, and enable Member Commenting.
  • Updated current and completed assignment view.
